Synopsis: This tale of friendship and survival set in the 1860s focuses on a roguish group of runaways living by their wits and instincts. Two of them are complimentary opposites: Drew (Barry Brown), a good boy from God-fearing stock, out west to evade the draft. Jake (Jeff Bridges), a scruffy scoundrel. They encounter rebels and miscreants and their journey makes them older and wiser beyond their years.
